Finish writing about setting and your novel. Some of you finished it last day in class. Some of you might have done it onEdmodo in class today. Either way works. The question is on Edmodo. The setting piece is due Monday.

If you get a chance, scroll and see what your classmates have posted about setting and the novels. This may inspire you as you write.

Please write a draft copy of a paragraph where you address one EQ and one element from the questions you answered about the two short stories.  Make sure you bring in evidence when you write your paragraph.
You need to use the two new short stories and one other piece( "Brother Dear" or the poems or your song).
You need to have three points in your paragraph.
You need to mention your EQ and the element you are addressing.
You need an intro sentence and a concluding sentence.
You need to cite your sources.
You need to have quotes.

Today  we thought about our digital footprint and how safe are we online.Geo maps are due on Thursday Oct 25. Your answer about setting in the novel is due on Monday, Oct 29.

We also reviewed the basics of setting in our novel.

Please work on your country projects. They are due this Thursday Oct 25. I want you to hand in your internet note sheet and any other note sheets as well. Remember to record all of your sources you have used for this project. There is no more class time for it.

Please bring laptops or Ipads to class next day. We are going to work on your country group/individual projects. We are going to use what we have learned about internet research today and use it as you research your environmental issue.

I was pleased to see that some of you took advantage and had your formative paragraphs written for last Thursday. I was able to give you feedback. For today's class, those who did not have it done were to have a copy done and then you were to rewrite your paragraph in class. It is unfortunate, that many of you had to use the class time to write your one and only draft for a summative piece of writing. Writing is a process and it improves as you write and rewrite.

HOMEWORK for Thursday: Finish questions off of sheet on one of your short stories.
                                             Read the second short story. As you read it you may want to fill out the chart and make notes and record any interesting quotes. Also connect it to a new EQ.

Also IN POINT FORM answer how does the short story you read address the theme of identity. Find five(5) specific examples.

For homework today you are writing a paragraph that addresses an EQ. You have a choice, you can connect it to any two pieces we have studied so far. On the board one of the pieces was "Brother Dear". That is fine. SOme of you may find it easier to write about the two poems, instead of doing a short story and a poem.
This is formative and I will be giving you feedback on it. due Friday. Enjoy concert tonight to all the JB fans.
Also part two is to JUST find a song that connects with identity and either upload it or print off the lyrics for Friday's class.

Finish your journal entry please. My first impression of the novel....( you can write about what you visualized, your connection, whatever you would like to write about).
Read your novel for at least 15minutes. Find 3 new words and write what they mean in your words OR find 2 rhetorical devices(simile, metaphor or examples of imagery) and write them down. Remember to include page numbers.

Here are some examples of a metaphor: Love is a rose.  Night is a wire. The classroom was a circus.

Country presentations and food to share with classmates are due on Friday as well.
